This article is prepared for the restaurant's communication and publishing operations. Specific consumer rights, sale price disputes, payment refunds, or the legal consequences of discount regulations are assessed separately based on the business's circumstances; no automatic rule is established that “the customer definitely gains this right.”
First, verify which price is correct
The manager checks in the real POS/menu record which price, branch and date the product is being offered at. An old menu photo, an expired campaign or a price from another branch should not be treated as the source of the current price.
Critical data: Product name, size/portion, currency, validity period, campaign condition, relevant branch, and tax/included items. First resolve whether the product in the image the user saw is the same as the product sold at the business.
Correction workflow in 7 stages
| Stage | Responsible action | Concrete check |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Error record | Screenshot and URL of the erroneous post | What was written incorrectly? |
| 2. Price confirmation | Authorized manager's current menu/POS record | Correct amount, product and date |
| 3. Scope of impact | Post, Story, pinned content, ad, web/QR | Where did the error spread? |
| 4. Correction | Edit/removal/new caption that the channel actually supports | What is the guest seeing? |
| 5. Customer questions | Incoming objections and real sales records | Is a handover to a human needed? |
| 6. Final matching | Instagram, menu page, Google profile information | Are the sources the same? |
| 7. Prevention | Price card owner and change notification | How will it be prevented from recurring? |
This process does not claim that every platform has the same edit button. For example, in some Story or ad formats it may not be possible to change the old text in place; the appropriate removal, new post, or clarification route is chosen according to what the platform allows.
Delete the wrong price, or publish a correction?
If the error was visible for a very short time and had no user impact, correcting it within the business's existing rules may be sufficient. However, if the wrong price was widely shared or objections have come from consumers, publishing a clear correction that explains the scope of the error may help guests understand what changed.
Example transparent text:
In our previous post, the price of [product name] was shown incorrectly. You can check the current price and validity conditions via [current menu link]. We apologize for the confusion.
This example is not a legal admission, a refund promise or the result of a real campaign. The actual amount and the customer action to be taken are verified by the authorized business.
If a guest says they ordered at the old price
This is not a matter the social media team can settle in a single sentence. Pass the complaint to the responsible person, and review which product the customer bought, on what date, based on what information, and the business's actual sales record. Have the applicable consumer legislation and contract terms assessed by a suitable expert.
What not to do: Automatically generating unverified replies to every objection, such as “you are right, the refund is confirmed”, “you have no rights at all”, “the campaign was already fake” or “it is not our responsibility”.
Separate the discount campaign price from the regular menu price
The old price, campaign period, discount rate, covered branches and product size can affect the accuracy of the information presented to consumers. Current rules on advertising and discount display in Turkey are assessed separately; in particular, in discounted sales messages, a “previous price” claim is not an arbitrary figure for a chart.
For authoritative information, consult the Ministry of Trade’s current advertising information and guidance. The article here does not certify that any campaign is legally compliant.
What changes if the wrong information is at different branches?
A menu price at one branch may not be the price at another branch. If the scope of a price shared on the shared Instagram account is unclear, the central manager must obtain confirmation from branch managers.
In the next post, show the product, branch, date and scope together. For separation of responsibility in multi-branch businesses, two-branch restaurant post approval guide can be used.
How do we prevent the same error next week?
In the record where menu/price information changes, keep five fields: old value, new approved value, date of change, approver and affected publishing channels. The agency does not stop at changing the figure in the content draft once; it also checks the profile link, permanent visuals, Stories and scheduled posts.
By keeping the real menu and price source in brand memory, NEFES links content, approval and publishing decisions to one another. Final check: Can the guest correctly match the price they see today with the product and condition the business actually offers?
Adapt this guide to your business
First confirm the correct price against the business's current menu. List the posts, fixed stories and reply templates that contain the wrong information together; do not limit yourself to correcting only the new post.
